A father who had not seen the child for a year applied to introduce overnight stays for a child aged 6 years, and the mother proposed similar orders. The father had pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault of the mother, and had received a suspended sentence of two months and was placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond. The mother had informed the child about the assault (adult topic).
The judge ordered that the child spend overnight time with the father on alternate weekends.
