Yamanda & Cain 2013 FamCAFC 64

A mother appealed an order that a child be placed in the care of a paternal great aunt, claiming that the judge should have given primary regard to a birth parent or biological parent.  The appeal court ruled that it is the quality of time a child spends with a parent rather than the fact of biological parenthood that is relevant when determining the best interests of the child, and dismissed the appeal.
