The judge reported he gained an impression that the family consultant was significantly influenced by knowing that the mother had a diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, and was influenced by research findings about people with anorexia nervosa, and that these background factors influenced much of the consultant’s opinions, rather than information directly relevant to the case (objectivity).
