Hale & Hale 2011 FMCAfam

Twins aged 12 years lived with their mother.  The father alleged that the mother tried to alienate the children from him as had occurred with an older sister.

The judge had ordered that the children participate in individual confidential counselling to assist the children to maintain a long distance relationship with their father.  The aim of counselling was to provide the children with strategies to deal with any difficulties they may experience in both parents’ households including the high level of conflict between their parents and specifically their mother’s and their sister’s negative attitude and influence with respect to their father, with an aim of promoting the children’s ongoing and meaningful relationship with their father (therapy for child).

This order was discharged after two years.
